Gliomas are the most common type of malignant brain tumour. They can result in very poor prognoses, difficult symptoms and challenging treatment effects. Consistently asking people with glioma to share how they are feeling can help in managing these effects. However, evidence suggests that this does not always happen.

A core outcome set would define the key information that should be collected from all people with glioma so that their needs can be met.

In this project, we will:

• Define the core person-focused outcomes to assess the needs of people living with glioma – the “COMBaT outcomes”.
• Plan how to collect the COMBaT outcomes in NHS settings.

In partnership with diverse public contributors, we will

• Describe what is known about the care needs of people living with glioma.
• Use a survey to find the most important outcomes to those affected by glioma and involved in glioma care.
• Co-develop a plan for how to collect these outcomes in NHS Wales.

Impact

NHS Wales will lead the way to support the needs of those affected by glioma across NHS settings in the UK. We will recommend how to do this by working in partnership with those affected by glioma and involved in glioma care.
